Our challenge was to reflect the good values that our kupuna (ancestors) set for us such as E malama ‘aina or caring for the land. We exemplified this by highly encouraging our family, friends and others in the community to go to local farmers markets and support local farmers. This would help to bring back the old ways of farming and reduce our dependence on the “outside” world for shipped goods.
